Milk production in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England

Data shown in the graphs below were downloaded from References 1, 2 and 3. Data prior to 2004/05 was derived from net quota. During this period production closely followed quota. In the last 10 years milk production in Wales and Scotland has increased and has clearly reduced in England. This is largely because of the greater extent to which government policy in England has decoupled subsidy from production and given it to environmental schemes. Further details are given in Reference 4.
